چکیده
We theoretically examine behavior of superconductivity at parallel interfaces separating the domains another dominant collective excitation, such as charge density waves or spin waves. Due to their competitive coupling in a two-component Ginzburg-Landau model, suppression order parameter interfacial planes allows for nucleation (hidden) superconducting those planes. In case, we demonstrate how number and distance between them are linked size emerging gaps system, well versatility temperature evolution possible phases. These findings bear relevance broad selection known layered materials, further design artificial (e.g., oxide) superlattices, where interplay competing parameters paves way towards otherwise unattainable states, some with enhanced critical temperature.

Electronic reconstruction at SrMnO3-LaMnO3 superlattice interfaces.
We use resonant soft-x-ray scattering (RSXS) to study the electronic reconstruction at the interface between the Mott insulator LaMnO3 and the band insulator SrMnO3. Superlattices of these two insulators were shown previously to have both ferromagnetism and metallic tendencies [Koida, Phys. Rev. B 66, 144418 (2002)10.1103/PhysRevB.66.144418]. By studying a judiciously chosen superlattice reflec...

Stabilizing superconductivity at high temperatures and elucidating its mechanism have long been major challenges of materials research in condensed matter physics. Meanwhile, recent progress in nanostructuring offers unprecedented possibilities for designing novel functionalities. Above all, thin films of cuprate and iron-based high-temperature superconductors exhibit remarkably better supercon...

متن کاملSuperconductivity and Quantum Phase Transitions in Weak Itinerant Ferromagnets
It is argued that the phase transition in low-Tc clean itinerant ferromagnets is generically of first order, due to correlation effects that lead to a nonanalytic term in the free energy. A tricritical point separates the line of first order transitions from Heisenberg critical behavior at higher temperatures. Sufficiently strong quenched disorder suppresses the first order transition via the a...
